Heritage Church Staff
Pastor Robert L. Fry
I was raised in a small town in Northwest Ohio and graduated from Jefferson High School, Delphos, Ohio, in 1968. Following high school I enlisted in the United States Navy serving from 1969-1973. Three of my closest friends lost their lives in the Vietnam War and those events changed my life.
After service in the Navy, I attended Ft. Wayne Bible College where the doors opened for me to preach at many revival meetings throughout Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. While continuing to pastor, I completed my education at Midwestern College, where I received my Doctorate Degree. I have been serving God as Pastor of the Heritage Church of God, Maumee, Ohio since 1985.
In 1982 I married Terry Skiver; I have three children, Rob, Bonnie, and Andrea, eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and a special little grandson, Seth, who is in heaven.
My hunger and passion has always been for personal soul winning. This has not always been an easy path, but I have always tried to follow God’s path. Terry and I have been blessed to be able to travel the world. I believe the travel and keeping up to date on current events adds to the acceptance and life application of my lessons. I am a Bible preacher with a heart for the God I pray you will feel during my sermons.

I began my spiritual journey about age 6, when our family began attending the Dorr Street Church of God. I accepted Christ at age 13, and soon dedicated my life to the Christian ministry. I attended Anderson College and Theological Seminary. While there I married Carol, who I had been dating since a Junior in High School. She attended the Maumee Church of God, and hoped to be a missionary. We have been married 54 years. I served 40 years of ministry, mostly in Illinois. I have helped to build 3 churches, doing all the electrical work in Granite City, IL, and all the plumbing work in Shorewood, IL. I also enjoy woodworking as a hobby.
When I retired from ministry, I came back to Toledo, and discovered I was not really retired, and probably never will. I enjoy doing what I can in the church, without the pressure of being Senior Pastor.
PASTOR DAVID RISON
I was born in Toledo, Ohio migrated to Southern California at the age of 2 and at the age of 17 traveled to Ohio with my parents to visit relatives at Christmas. (1964) It was in Swanton Ohio that Christmas I met the Love of my life Mary Ellen Wahl. By July of 1965 we were married and our journey began. While working in the field of communications Mary and I begin our Spiritual journey when we accepted Christ as our Savior in Saratoga, Indiana in May of 1973. We praise God for Beverly and Bud Gray who were faithful and obedient to the Holy Spirit and shared the Gospel of Christ with us.
That’s where our New Life began. From there we attended the Sylvania Church of the Nazarene under the Ministry of Rev. Carlos Sparks. It was in Sylvania God called me to ministry which he confirmed by informing my wife before I informed her. Our journey in Christ led us to move, leaving our newly built home, family and friends to Colorado Springs Colorado to attend Nazarene Bible College. There I received a BA in Bible and Theology. Later I became an ordained elder. After completing college we took the assignment to start a Church plant in Swanton Ohio, where God blessed us with our mission work. There we organized with 11 members completed two building programs with all volunteers. Our final building program in Swanton was a Sanctuary that would seat 500 and by God’s Grace is still winning souls to Christ! During this ministry I attended Mid-America University Olathe Kansas and majored in Bible and Theology.
Our life in Christ has allowed us to Pastor Swanton Church, Toms River Church of the Nazarene, (Toms River NJ) North Point Church of the Nazarene (Point Place Ohio), Delta Church of the Nazarene, and now rejoice in service at Heritage Church of God! My Passion is Leading others to the Kingdom of God!
Pastor Michael Long
I grew up in the West 11th Street Church of God in Houston, TX and accepted Christ as my Savior through the children’s ministry there. In the summer of 1992 my family moved to Oklahoma City. In January 1993, I began college at Mid-America Bible College. My connection with the Church of God in the state of Ohio began in the summer of 1994 while on a camp team from Mid-America I came to Payne Camp Meeting. It was during that week in Payne I accepted my call to ministry and met my wife Jennifer. In 1996 we were married, and lived in Oklahoma City. We returned to northwest Ohio in June of 1999 after I finished my schooling at Mid-America.
I began my ministry at Free Christian Church of God in Continental, Ohio, in the year 2000. God used the twelve years we spent at Free Christian to grow us both spiritually and in ministry. While at Free Christian our family grew. Our daughter Allison and son Andrew were born during our time there. Later, we would answer God's call to lead worship at Heritage and make the leap of faith to uproot our family's church home. Our family grew once more, with the addition of our youngest son, Austin, during our first year here. Also during our early days at Heritage, I was honored to be ordained as a Minister in the gospel of Jesus Christ. God's hand has been ever present through it all.
My passion and calling is to see people embrace a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as I help lead our congregation into His presence. Through His help and guidance I desire to use the talents the Lord has given me to accomplish this calling. I am so thankful that the Lord sent Jennifer into my life to complete our ministry together. Jennifer loves leading our children’s choir and is integrally involved in the worship ministries. We love our friends and the congregation at Heritage. We believe that God is using us to further His ministry here and are excited to see how He is going to continue to use us in His ministry at Heritage Church of God.
As executive director, I meet with all of the leaders and directors of each group and ministry, and help them plan the direction each team will take. Each director then meets with their team, and plans all events for the year, and carries out those events. The Bible says let the strong one among you lead, the director is the strong one in each ministry arm of the Church. This structure has worked so well for Heritage for so many years, and I am so proud to be a part of it. It is through this organizational design that we are able to make sure there is a ministry and place for EVERYONE here, so that we can all work together to further God's Kingdom. Here at Heritage, through our many ministry teams, we grow in the Lord, laugh together, cry together, and win souls together.
I was born and raised in Defiance, Ohio. I currently live in Perrysburg. I married my high school sweetheart, Scott Dunckel and we have 3 wonderful children, Abbey, Adam and Camille. As long as I can remember I have been attending the Church of God. My father was an Associate Pastor for the Church of God while I was growing up.
I have worked here at Heritage Church of God since 2002. I love my job but most of all I love the people. We are a very friendly church. I welcome you to come and visit us or call; I would love to talk with you about our ministries here at Heritage Church.
I am a Maumee native, and while my background is in Psychology and Political Science, I have also obtained a degree and worked in the Accounting industry for over six years. I live in Monclova with my husband Josh and daughter, Harper. I have attended Heritage since I was a child, and was baptized at the age of 15. This church is the most giving place I've ever known, and I cannot imagine my life without it. Josh and I have been blessed to be a part of the Jr. & Sr. High Youth ministry, and if there's one thing I have learned as Administrator, it's that there is a ministry and place for everyone here at Heritage Church of God.
By the grace of God, I became a Christian in the summer of 1993. Shortly thereafter, the Lord led me to the North Cove Church of God (the former Heritage Church of God). As a Christian, the Lord laid on my heart the ministry of “HELPS”. This is reflected in my current involvement in finances (treasurer and finance chairperson), church council, and music (piano, keyboard, choir) and some visitation.
I thank GOD for allowing me to serve in these areas and I give Him all the praise, honor, and glory
